Community Development Agency
If I want to become a social worker what should i major in?
I am going to a community college right now and just taking generals. It is only my second semester so I was wondering if instead of doing generals should I change my major to child development and then when i go to a 4 year school after my two years there go into social work?
Would this be the right path to take if I wanted to become a social worker at an adoption agency some day?
You can do either, but social sciences is the best bet. I wouldnt waste my time with the associates though- go into a transfer track program and transfer at the end of your second year, the associates means nothing for social workers and also you will spend extra time getting it.
In any case, its up to you on that one- either is fine, just keep your gpa up above a 3.0. You will need to keep that 3.0 throughout your college life- as you will need it to get into a graduate masters program, and once in a masters program you will need a 3.0 minimum to graduate.
