Economics Of Development And Planning
Development Economics ??
Hi everyone. I have heard some things about development economics..and I’m having some interest in it because I have had more interest in econ and also because I plan to have a career mixing foreign policy, human rights, and econ together. What does a development economist do? And what kind of things (specifcially) do you learn about in development economics? I just want to know the specifics since I know some general facts. Thanks!
This is a hard one to answer. Foreign policy, human rights and economics have got nothing in common. Human rights protect equality and a minimun welfare level that´s not compatible with some models of growth in which profits are high and salaries are low for long periods of time. Foreign policy is more related to imports and exports linked to non economic relationships. I´d use some maths models and would include a variable & to define policy makers ideology.
