Hud Community Development

How safe is it to rent to Housing Urban Development? I want to rent my condo.?

I stay in a gated community and it is good rental property. Is HUD a good starting point for my rental property? is there an easy way to make the transition?

This is an excellent way to rent a property. You have to locate your section 8 housing department in your city. They will send you the requirements.See if you can meet these requirements.

If so sign the documents and send them back. If your place is accepted the section 8 department will then schedule an appointment for an inspection of your place. If your place don’t pass the first time they will give you a list of things that need to be done in order to pass.

Now be careful on who you select to rent your property, you can screen them as you do any other renter.

Once they have completed the rental application, make sure you get a few personal referrals, follow up and call each one.Call their place of employment to verify that they work there and the length of time the have worked there.

The hardest part might be the inspection that is required to rent to a section 8 tenant.

You might want to check with your HOA and see if you can rent your condo. Some condo associations have restrictions on the percentage of condos that can be rented at one time. The percentage is normally 10%.

I hope this has been of some use to you.
